The tool marks, uneven surfaces, saw marks, and natural aging of an old hand-hewn timber can provide the authentic reclaimed appearance homeowners and builders want.
Meriwether Millworks can re-saw hand-hewn beams to create thin sections, or “skins,” that can be used to build box beams. This allows you to use the original surface of an old hand-hewn beam as the visible exterior of a new box beam. The result can provide the appearance of a massive reclaimed hand-hewn timber without requiring the entire original beam to be installed as a structural member.
