Giant Pine Log Breaks Sawblade and Sawmill on Wood-Mizer LT40
Our sawmill is designed to handle logs that are up to 36 inches in diameter and 4,500 pounds. Sometimes, however, we push that limit. This video is an example of just that. The log both exceeded the weight and diameter limit, but we were able to make it work . . . sort of. While milling it, the log broke a sawblade and part of the sawmill.
The property owners were building a new home and wanted to re-use the timber on the property in their new home. In this case, we were turning the pine into v-groove tongue and groove boards for the ceiling of their porches. Their porches, by the way, totaled 3,300! Needless to say, it was a nice house, made even nicer with their tongue and groove ceilings.
After milling, kiln drying, and machining the boards down to 3/4 inch v-groove tongue and groove boards, we delivered the finished boards to their final destination. This was the last delivery.
