Milling Ambrosia Maple For More Desks

We love Ambrosia Maple.  The Ambrosia Beetle makes the streaks in the wood as a result of it burrowing into the tree to lay its eggs.  The changes in wood color are actually for the nourishment of the larva that later hatches to eat its way out of the tree.  Thankfully, we have a kiln that allows us to dry the wood, capture its beauty, and kill off the larva so they don’t start crawling out of the wood after you are sitting at the desk to do important work.  This wood will be turned into desks for the co-working space, Woodstock Millworks, going into Downtown Woodstock.  This log was actually Baldwin’s first log he milled at the sawmill controls.
